I did my Power Point presentation on War in the West Conflict on the Plains when the US Government was trying to take over the land that belonged to the plains Indians and this led into the battle at Little Big Horn.
This is taught in fifth grade US History. Students need to understand why the Indians felt the way they did and the view point of the US Government. At the end of the Power Point presentation there is directions for a word web. Students were to create a word web using the topic that was giving on this particular situation. This helps students to sum up what they learned.
Another idea would be to have students create their own PowerPoint about how the Indians felt vs the US Government. There are many other topics that could go along with this lesson that students could create a PowerPoint presentation on. This would be a great way to incorporate technology into the lesson at the same time.

I don't understand the clap you hands stuff?
ReplyDeleteThe clap your hands stuff is something that I do for an attention skill. This helps to keep the students engaged. This is really good when you have a special education class that contain students with attention disorders, which is also very common in the regular education classes now. They love this and the fact that their name is in the presentation it keeps their eyes always looking... :O)
